This was Corbin's second snow. I actually put this snowsuit someone gave me on him! I mean really, How cute is this snow angel?

This was actually Corbin's first snow! The sun was out and about to melt the snow so we ran outside and took a quick picture.

4 Months Old

Corbin went for his 4 month shots this week. He weighs 15 lbs and 6 oz. He is 25 inches tall. She said he was great, except his head is a little big. I told her he gets it honestly (from his daddy!). She said it was time to start feeding cereal so that night we went home and fixed him some. He made the funniest faces while spitting out his first try at eating cereal. He also really watched the spoon and tried to help me put it in is his mouth.

I love those toes!!

Christmas 2009

On Monday, Andy, Corbin, and I went to Jonesboro and Grandpa did Corbin's 3 month pictures. He was in a great mood and did wonderful! He is really wanting to sit up and even stand now. He is starting to laugh out loud. It is so cute to hear! He will be 4 months old tomorrow...

Susan and Jackson got here at 5 on Thursday, which was Christmas Eve. We went to the Candlelight Service at church. It was beautiful. Jackson sat in the sound booth with his daddy and Susan held Corbin, of course!

We stayed at home all day on Christmas Day in our pajamas. It was so nice not to have to go anywhere. We played with all of the new toys and watched Christmas movies. Grandma, Grandpa, Gammy and Pop came from Jonesboro to see what Santa brought the kids.

On Saturday, we had the kids birthday party. We had a huge blow-up jumpy thing and invited a few close friends. The kids had a ball out in the cold and all!

On Sunday, we went to Jonesboro to have Christmas with all of Andy's family. It was a great day. We love it when everyone is here, we had someone extra special here this Christmas too, Gammy (the kids great-grandmother)!
Jackson decided that he liked Corbin more this trip (at Thanksgiving he thought he cried too much!). He even fed him. Susan would not put him down. I told her that when she left no one would be able to sit and hold him all day.

Corbin got to play baby Jesus in our church children's Christmas program. In practice on Saturday, he didn't do so well. He screamed the first half of the practice, so I was very nervous about the actual program with LOTS of people watching. Turns out there was nothing to worry about! He slept the entire time and woke up happy to greet the people at the end of the program! He is such a good baby :)

He has the biggest prettiest eyes! I keep telling Andy that Corbin is going to grow up and wonder where his mama was, since I am the one always taking the pictures, I am never in them--so I randomly make Andy take pictures of us.

He has recently begun to want to stand up. He is turning into such a "big boy"! Speaking of "big boy", I guess next weekend he has to officially start sleeping in his own bed! He has still been sleeping in the bassinet in our room. Mrs. Moody says he loves his big boy bed at her house, so hopefully it will be an easy transition.

Thanksgiving 09

We went to pick up Susan & Jackson in Little Rock. We all ate breakfast at IHOP and then got on the road. About 2 minutes in the car and and Corbin was fussing, Jackson said "He wants his mama"--I guess Corbin was getting on his nerves! We finally got home and Andy went to work. We headed to the mall to get the kids picture made with Santa. That was fun. The picture of Susan & Jackson was wonderful. Corbin was not happy! We came home and decorated the Christmas tree. This is the first time Susan & Jackson got to help us decorate. They loved it! Wednesday night, Jackson said "Dad I'm tired of him crying all the time!" Kids are so funny :) Jackson still wants to know when Corbin will be as big as him.

On Thursday, we got up and went to Jonesboro. None of the family knew the kids were gonna be with us. Andy, Corbin, and I came in the front door and the kids knocked on the back door. It was a great surprise. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with all of Andy's family there. The only problem--Susan wouldn't let anyone hold her brother! She is such a little mama :) We finally got to take some real pictures of all of the kids together.

Friday, we got up and went to the zoo. It was a beautiful day and the kids hadn't got to see the new grizzly bear exhibit yet.

11 Weeks Old

Corbin is just getting more fun by the day! He is sleeping from about 11 until 8. He wakes up in the best mood every morning. He wants food and then smiles, ewwws, and awwws! He is starting to actually laugh a little. He is spoiled rotten by me. Apparently he is wonderful when Mrs. Moody or daddy has him, but he demands that I hold him and fusses until I do! So naturally, with him growing so fast and me missing him so much during the day--he usually gets his way :) Even with him fussing sometimes, wanting to be held, he has to be the easiest baby. I could not have imagined having a baby this happy and easy to please. He was weighed and measured this morning and he weighs 12 lbs 3 oz and is 23 inches long at 11 weeks old. He is starting to grow out of his 3 month clothes. I still can't decide who he looks like....some days, I think he is a miniature Jackson and Andy; some days I see Doug in his facial expressions.

The dogs have been close, of course, but this is the first time we let Maggie up on the couch with us. I set Corbin on top of Maggie. She just turned around and licked him. I guess she was just excited to be on the couch. I helped Corbin pet Maggie.

Corbin has decided that he likes baths. He stretches out and loves the warm water. He is starting to kick and slides down the little mesh holder. However, he gets REALLY mad when you take him out of the bathtub to get him dressed. I guess its a little cold out there! The red outfit is officially his big-boy night nights. He has outgrown his infant gowns (oh how I love those things!).

Yes, I know this green outfit is kinda funny looking, but it is very special. It is 32 years old! This is an outfit that Andy wore when he was a baby. How cool is it, that Grandma Jackie still had it and gave it to us.

Back to Reality....

Well I went back to work on Monday, Oct. 19th. Andy was off so when I left for work the boys were laying in the bed snoozing! I was fine leaving him (I thought it would be exciting since this would be the first WHOLE day Corbin spent with daddy alone). Andy said everything was wonderful. On Tuesday, we both had to go to work. So off we go, both of us go take Corbin to Mrs. Moody's. She is so excited to have him. I cried a little and finally we left. I think I called 2 times to check on them that first day. She even sent me 2 pictures and a text message saying thank you for letting her keep him! I mean really---who does that? She is an angel and loves him everyday just like we would. We are so lucky!

He has just started smiling this week. He is cooing and smiling all the time. He has even started to smile and coo when we talk to him. If this milestone is this amazing, I can only imagine what is to come. It is the most wonderful thing to see this precious baby's smiling face everyday. I am even beginning to enjoy the 6am playtime---hard to believe, i know!

He is official he is 8 weeks old! Time really does fly. I didn't realize how fast it went until he came along. I also didn't realize exactly how wonderful being a mommy could be. He is the best happiest baby ever. We are so blessed!

Zoo Trip--October 11th

Last Sunday was a beautiful day (a little chilly, so my baby bird had to be bundled up). The Memphis Zoo had just opened a multi-million dollar exhibit so we decided to go. They had baby grizzly bears. They were so very cute playing in the water!

Last Sunday, we decided to take our first road trip! We went to Jonesboro to see Grandpa Richard, Grandma Jackie, and Pop. Corbin slept the entire trip (about an hour). It seems like he is going to LOVE riding. So far every time we have gone somewhere he has slept. I think the grandparents and great-grandparent were pleasantly surprised to see us! We desperately needed to get fresh air and get out of the house!

We also went shopping for the first time. We decided to go to Target. My little angel slept the entire time---not even a peep!

Today, we went back to the pediatrician. Corbin already weighs 8 lbs 4 oz. Can you believe how fast they grow??

He is now eating 4 oz at a time and sleeping about 4 hrs at a time...Every once in a while we are graced with a 6 hr night!!

Coming Home....

We had several visitors at the hospital when we got word that we could go home on Sunday afternoon about 4. Our friends helped us pack and get loaded up. We spend the night alone--just us getting settled. I was still very sore. On Monday, Andy was still off work and able to do everything. I was feeling a little guilty that I couldn't do as much as I wanted. It turns out that by Tuesday and Wednesday I was pretty much feeling back to normal. Andy had to go back to work on Tuesday and I had a friend come stay with me. Thanks Starr!

Corbin slept for 3-4 hours at a time from the minute we brought him home. He did this for almost a week, then decided he would get fussy and scream from about 8-12 every night. He is a perfect happy baby during the day and then at night a different child comes to visit! A friend suggested Gripe Water so we got some today and are going to try it out.

On a funny note, Andy was changing Corbin and had laid down the new diaper under the dirty one and cleaned him up and was pulling the dirty diaper out and it stuck to the new diaper pulling it from under him too. Dumping poo under Corbin and in the process of all this excitement Corbin peed in his own face! Andy came to tell me what had happened and was laughing really hard! I was surprised he was laughing. I would have probably been crying!!

On Thursday, Corbin had his first trip out of the house. Andy, Corbin and I went to the airport to get Granny. I was so excited that she was coming to visit. She got to spoil her newest grand-baby for a few days. She kept him Thursday night for us, so we got to sleep through the night. She also cooked several meals that we froze for later. It was a WONDERFUL weekend! We had lots of visitors. Thanks for all your help Granny!
Granny said the night she got home she woke up about 2am and thought she heard Corbin crying! She looked around and figured out she was back at home. No baby there!

On Friday, Grandma Judi came over to keep Corbin for a couple of hours so I could go have a post-pregnancy margarita and eat fajitas. Granny, Andy, Kim, Amy, Madeline, Brady, and I went to eat and had a great time! He was a perfect angel and we ended up only being gone about an hour! I did miss him though....

Corbin likes to hold his bottle already. He is a super eater and grabs his bottle with both hands with as tight of a grip as he possibly can. It is so cute! He also has his legs crossed most of the time, just like his mama! Pretty cute too!

On Saturday, Corbin got his first sponge bath. He had several baths with baby wipes before then, but had his first official sponge bath that day. He was VERY upset about this. We did plug up a heater and try to keep him warm, but nothing made him happy during the bath.

On Sunday, Grandpa Richard and Grandma Jackie came and spent the afternoon after we took Granny back to the airport. They took lots of good pictures and brought us a couple more meals. We should have plenty to eat for a while! I will post some of the new pictures as soon as we get them!

Today, Monday, September 14th, we both had doctors appointments. Corbin's first trip to the doctor did not make him happy. He is seeing Dr. Evans, which is the pediatrician that Doug and I saw from birth through college! I haven't seen her in 10 years, so it was exciting to get to see her. Dr. Evans is the best! She checked him from head to toe and made him scream! I know that this is all part of the process but it was hard to listen to him scream while she checked him over. He has gained 4 ounces, he now weighs 7 lbs 1 oz. He is doing great!
I went to the doctor today too and he said I was doing wonderful. I can start driving! Yipee! We can get out of the house a little bit now! Another bit of extra good news....I have lost 33 lbs in a little over a week--LOTS and LOTS of fluid (I wish it was always that easy to lose weight)!

It sure has been a busy week full of firsts! We had lots of fun and I can only imagine all the other firsts that are coming. Slow down, I don't want the next month to fly by and me to have to go back to work!

Corbin's Birthday--Friday, September 4th

Well, everyone knows that Corbin decided to be a little bit stubborn and not to come down far enough for me to have him vaginally. I had the best support people, thank you, Andy, Kim, Molly, and my Doula, Angie! But, after 36 hrs of labor (about 24 feeling pain) I was ready for him to come however he wanted! The c-section made me very nervous. The lady had a hard time getting the spinal in (she tried 4-5 times). She finally did get it in and about that time I was panicking; got really hot, felt as if I couldn't breathe, got nauseated, etc. Andy said I was talking completely normal until this point. I even asked if they had started to cut yet! Then she gave me some other medicine and the fun began!! I slurred something about my eyes being swollen and being slant eyed. I compared myself to the doctor who was cutting on me! Dr. Chin is foreign. It is a good thing he didn't take it personally. I sure didn't mean any harm by the comment! Then I kept trying to get my hand up and Andy asked what I wanted and I said I needed to scratch my nose. He finally said okay and was going to let me scratch my nose and I started scratching my CHIN! They thought that was hilarious. I did not feel one tiny thing even the pressure they had warned me about. The next thing I knew Andy and Kim were crying and then I heard a little tiny cry. I guess it was a minute or two and then the nurses gave Corbin to Andy to show me. He was precious. His face was all scrunched up! The important ones left the room. It felt like it took them FOREVER to get me sowed back up. I kept asking them if they were about through. I guess I finally got to my room.

On Friday night, I don't really remember much. I know Andy brought him to me all bundled up and I asked to see his fingers,toes and ears. He showed them to me and helped me hold him. I was in and out. I think I must have been resting well! I think I finally woke up some about midnight. The nurse was wonderful. She asked if we wanted her to take the baby to the nursery. I guess at this point she knew I wasn't going to be any good and Andy was about to just fall out from exhaustion (2 long days of exhaustion and worry). Andy said no thank you. I said honey you better let her. I am not going to be able to help you tonight and you need some sleep! So he finally said okay. Corbin stayed in the nursery from about midnight till 6am. That was the best sleep ever for both of us.

On Saturday, we found out that Susan and Jackson were on their way to West Memphis to see us--well probably mostly to see their little brother! However, we couldn't wait to see them. We called Andy's parents and found out that Pop had decided that he had to come see Corbin immediately! Molli and Marty were in town as were Angela and Lee, so all of Andy's family got to come to see us while the kids were there. It was a wonderful visit.

Induction Day....(well almost!)

It's about 11:15pm the night before I am being induced at 5am. I am still up. Andy is sleeping :) I know he needs some good sleep too, but now I am just alone and anxious, well except for Maggie--usually all of them follow me around, but tonight its just me and her! I am really excited and my back is hurting. Could that be labor starting on its own or just the extra weight I am carrying around? I hope it is labor starting on its own! I told Molly that I hope my water breaks tonight and gets this labor started as soon as possible as nature intended. I pray that I do all this naturally tomorrow and relatively quick! I CAN NOT wait to meet my precious little man! I think that this will be the best day ever. Thursday, September 3, 2009--Welcome Corbin Douglas Bishop

I am 35 weeks pregnant with our little man, Corbin! I have felt really good throughout this pregnancy especially considering I have high blood pressure and gestational diabetes. I am beginning to feel done. This is the only way I know how to put it!! I am starting to think that my stomach can't get any bigger (Andy keeps assuring me that it can!!) We ended up having to go to the ER on Monday night because of a severe headache that wouldn't go away and vomiting. It turns out that all they had to do was change the blood pressure medicine and I felt better almost immediately. I went to the doctor on Wednesday for my weekly check-up. Everything looked good. Dr. Chin said now it is just a hurry up and wait game :) I am so excited to meet my sweetheart!
